Concordia Log Cabin College - Altenburg, Missouri - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

The historic log cabin was constructed in 1839 a short distance from Altenburg. It served as first college for the Evangelical Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and was first Lutheran college west of the Mississippi River. The 20 x 17 foot cabin is constructed of crudely shaped logs with little notching. The building was moved to its current location in 1912 at which time vertical oak reinforcements were added to the corners. The shelter over the cabin was added in 1915. The Concordia Log Cabin College is now used for display and is open to tours through the Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum located across the street next to Trinity Lutheran Church.
