There are four stained glass windows high up in the chancel, three images on the north wall, St.Columba, St.Bridgid, and St.Patrick, and one on the south wall, St.Margaret of Scotland. The second image of St.Columba is modern and can be found in the north transept chapel.
The three north wall windows appear to have been given in remembrance of one K.F.C. who lived from 1864-1896 whose initials and date appear at the foot of the image of St.Bridgid.
The modern St.Columba's window gives Columba's Gaelic name Colum Cille and has the following inscription at each side of the image:-
Remember in the Lord So long as the Songs
the Rev.Kenneth Macleod of the Geal are Sung
D.D. Pastor and Bard His name will
endure 1873-1955
W.Wilson 1965
The designer, William Wilson, was a Scottish stained glass artist, printmaker and watercolour painter, born 1905 and died in 1972. He was a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and was awarded an OBE. This was one of his last windows, further individual work was hampered by increasing blindness and in later works were assisted by fellow workers.
From Wikipedia:- The University of St Andrews describes Wilson as "one of Scotland's great artists, a master of the arts of printmaking, painting and stained glass". Bourne Fine Art note that "in all he did, his style was very distinctive".
