Near the Canton-Milton line, at the summit of Blue Hill is this mark, which is Ref. 1 for MY3472, BLUE HILL.

The description for the main mark, MY3472 BLUE HILL, has the following about this mark:

The Main Mark and Observatory:
"THE STATION IS IN THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF MILTON, NEAR THE CANTON LINE, ON THE TOP OF GREAT BLUE HILL, THE HIGHEST HILL OF THE BLUE HILL RANGE. THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF A PUNCH HOLE IN THE ROUNDED HEAD OF A 5/8 INCH COPPER BOLT WEDGED INTO A DRILL HOLE AND CENTERED IN A TRIANGLE 4 INCHES ON A SIDE CUT INTO OUTCROP LEDGE ROCK. A TRIANGULAR-SHAPED CONCRETE FORM, CENTERED AROUND THE STATION MARK WAS CAST ON THE LEDGE ROCK. THIS FORM IS ABOUT 1 FOOT WIDE AND ABOUT 5 FEET LONG ON EACH SIDE, AND ABOUT 6 INCHES THICK. THE STATION IS 23 FEET WEST OF THE WEST GATE POST AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE OBSERVATORY, 17 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE OBSERVATORY AND 8 FEET NORTH OF A WROUGHT IRON FENCE. "

The Mark Itself:
" REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD REFERENCE MARK DISK STAMPED BLUE HILL NO 1 CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING LEDGE ROCK. IT IS 21 FEET SOUTH OF A WROUGHT IRON FENCE, 12 FEET EAST OF THE EAST SIDE OF THE OBSERVATORY AND 10 FEET WEST OF A WROUGHT IRON FENCE."

The mark is in good shape - some pitting, but all text is legible.

If you look closely on the rock ledge around the mark, you might see the square etchings of the older reference marks.
Azimuth Condition: Good

Your Directions:
To reach the mark, there are several trails that you can use. The shortest is to park at the parking lot between the Blue Hill Ski slope and Trailside Museum, then walk to the kiosk showing the map of the Blue Hills Reservation (operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (Mass DCR), the walk up the red dot trail to the service road, take a right on the service road and follow the service road to the top, where you will see a castle-like building. This is the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory. From there enter through the rod iron gate and turn left immediately to the mark in a protruding rock ledge on your left.
