The V-shaped New Haven Vietnam Memorial installed in 1988 has the names of 55 residents who were MIA/POW of KIA during the Vietnam War. At the start of a straight concrete path leading to this monument is plaque which is inscribed:
VIETNAM MEMORIAL
NEW HAVEN
THIS PATH IS SITUATED ON
LONGITUDE 72° 55' 29" WEST
ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE EARTH
ON THIS LINE
LIES
VIETNAM
The plaque is correct. A path along this line would pass through the center of Vietnam.
