The Wenatchee joins the Columbia, which goes on to form the border between WA and OR. The actual confluence is part of Wenatchee Confluence State Park.
The Columbia is the largest river in the Pacific Northwest, at 1, 243 miles long. Its drainage basin encompasses seven US states, and one Canadian province.
Although the Wenatchee River is only 53 miles long, it is heavily polluted from chemicals which have been banned for decades. The WA Dept of Health has advised not to eat mountain whitefish from the lower half of the river due to high levels of pcb's.
