This bronze sculpture is designed as a cresting ocean wave, with a pair of human feet sticking out of it. The wave itself is about 7 and a half feet tall and about 8 feet wide. It is located outside the Perry Mill Market, at the junction of America's Cup Avenue, Thames Street & Memorial Boulevard, in the southwest area of downtown Newport. Apparently, it is a local past time to regularly add a pair of socks, usually quite colorful, to the sculpture during late night visits.
The sculpture was commissioned by the Perry Mill/Bay Club Partners who own the Perry Mill Market. It was sculpted by local resident, Kay Worden in 1983.
