This is one of the Whispering Giant sculptures created by Peter Toth.
According to the Smithsonian American Art Inventory,
"The artist has dedicated his life to creating an Indian carving for each of the fifty states. He gives each sculpture as a gift to the state. The "Montana Indian Chief" is the thirty second Indian carving that the artist completed."
