Jean Cabot (John Cabot en anglais et Giovanni Caboto en italien) est un explorateur et navigateur né en 1449 à Gênes (Italie).
En 1497, il débarque à Bonavista et prend possession de l'île de Terre-Neuve au nom du roi Henri VII d'Angleterre.

This relief is on a large plate to mark the 500th anniversary of the Cabot's landing in North America.
Cabot's birthplace is in Italy, in 1449. In Italian he is known today as Giovanni Caboto, in English as John Cabot, in French as Jean Cabot and in Spanish as Juan Caboto.
John Cabot was an Italian navigator and explorer whose 1497 discovery of parts of North America under the commission of Henry VII of England is commonly held to have been the first European encounter with the mainland of North America.
