The Royal Grammar School was established in 1509 after Robert Beckingham left money in his will to 'make a free scole at the Towne of Guldford'. It moved to this location and was given its Royal Charter in 1522 by Edward VI, the son of the infamous Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour. Perhaps the most famous pupil of the Royal Gammar School was George Abbot, who went on to become Archbishop of Canterbury in 1611. However, Sir George Grey (1812-1898), the 11th Prime Minister of New Zealand also attended the school, as did the comedian Terry Jones, famous for being a member of Monty Python's Flying Circus!

This is a virtual geocache and you can say have you found it if you can solve this cryptic clue:

"A crowned Tudor rose marks this golden year"
