In the past, the Salvation Army, was a leading provider of services to those in need and on the street. The only drawback was they served up a helping of religion with everything else that they provided. With the proliferation of government agencies and other non-profits providing the same services with the addition of religion, the Salvation Army lost much of its audience and supplicants.
