Ebenezer Luthran Church was organized as a congregation of Augustana Lutheran Synod in 1892. The congregation consisted of Swedish immigrants of Edgewater/Andersonville, now a part of Chicago. The current church building was begun in 1904 and completed in 1908. During the height of Swedish immigration the congregation had nearly 2000 members and the church served as the center of religion, culture, and family activity for this new Swedish community. Over time the church has expanded beyond is Swedish roots though the church does still occasionally conduct services in Swedish.
Getting a good picture of this church proved to be difficult due to the traffic and being able to get sufficient distance from the church.
