The sole zinc headstone at the back of Plano's historic Old City Cemetery marks the grave of Nancy Abernathy.

This is a two-sided headstone. On the front, up top, is a "Holy Bible" depiction, with flowers decorating the perimeter. Below is the inscription:

70 yrs, 4 mos, 26 dys.
The family name, Abernathy, is at the top of the base, and a further inscription says:
Dear mother, in Earth's thorny paths,
How long thy feet have trod!
To find at last this peaceful rest,
Safe in the arms of God.
The reverse of the monument features the same flower ornamentation around the perimeter, with "Nancy Abernathy." at the top, and a set of clasped hands (suggesting a good, long marriage) below. There is a further inscription, "Gone from our home, but not from our hearts." and at the base, it says "Monumental Bronze Co. Bridgeport Ct."
