A neat cross and memorial alongside the road to Martyr's Bay, south of the Village, Baile Mòr.

This is a celtic cross memorial placed above Martyr's Bay, Port nam Mairtear, to the south of the village, Baile Mòr, on Iona. The memorial was originally erected in memory of the fallen of WWI but the names of those who fell in WWII have been added to the left and right of the WWI names. It's on a truncated four-sided pryamidal base, on a rectangular base, all made of marble. This all on another truncated pyramid of Lewisian Quartz and placed to the east of the road, the Sound of Iona side opposite the fire station, which runs to the back of Martyr's Bay. The whole face of the cross is relief carved with intertwined celtic patterns. It was
 
            'Erected in Honour and Memory of those Sons and Grandsons
          of Iona who laid down their lives for their God and Country in
                            the Great War 1914 – 1918.'
