The Mercury was first published in 1855 & became a daily in 1949. It has little competition in Wollongong, is also sold in the Sydney metropolitan area & in the City of Shoalhaven where I live. I used to buy it once a week for its sporting section however our local rag now has an excellent sporting feature so haven't purchased the Mercury for several years.
In 2005 the Mercury was named Newspaper of the Year (20,000-50,000 circulation) by the Pacific Area Newspaper Publisher's association.

Maybe even buy a newspaper while they're still in business. They need all the help they can get. No picture, no new log. And no icon.
