The plaque here is part of a set of three plaques signifying the role this tree played in history. It was a landmark back as far as 1670 for both the Delaware Indian Trail and later in the 1800's the Ft. Wayne trace leading from Indianapolis to Ft. Wayne. It has been recognized in bicentennial events as well as by the Indiana Arborist Association and the local community. It is a beautiful specimen and a wonder to behold.
