A really neat looking bell the front door I suppose is a parental aid. The bell can help your kid make the transition into "It's time to leave, don't forget to ring the bell on the way out." It's a nice way to get out of there I guess in an attempt to prevent screaming, crying and carrying on. It's just a neat looking bell.
