The Boundary Waters BluesFest has been an annual event in the Ely area since 2001. In 2013 the festival starts on Thursday, August 15 and goes through Saturday, August 17 and features blues musicians such as Jimmi & the Band of Souls, Tweed Funk, Jimmy Nick and Don't Tell Mama, Chainsaw Dupont, and Ken Valdez.
The festivities start on Thursday night with a Kickoff Party at the Longbranch ($15); blues music continues in the outdoor arena on Friday ($35), and Saturday ($40). A three day weekend pass is available for $80.
