This statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in Pine Bluffs, is one of the largest concrete sculptures and one of the largest Marian shrines in the United States.

This statue called Our Lady of Peace Shrine is located in Pine Bluffs, Wy. The statue is 30 feet high and weighs 146 tons. It sits on a pedestal that is 7 feet high and is made of marble stone and cost $400,000 to build.

Roman Catholic veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the mother of Jesus) is based on dogma as well as scripture. The incarnation of the Son of God through Mary signifies her honor as Mother of God. Since biblical times Mary is seen as the Mother of God.
