Swiebertje is the title of a series of children's books, from 1936 written by John Henry from den Bogaard, and a television series based on the books, emitted by the NCRV in the 60s and 70s. Protagonist is the tramp Swiebertje (in their own words both his first name as his last name), a drifter who always gets to stick with constable Bromsnor. He constantly makes Miss Saartje, the housekeeper of the mayor, the court. He was best known for the popular television series, which Joop Doderer performed the role of Swiebertje. The figure of Malle Pete came in 1968 as a permanent character in.

The series was only really started around 1960, after a number of test broadcasts, the first one in 1955. Swiebertje was until April 25, 1975 broadcast of April 20, 1955 on television. The series ended with the departure of Swiebertje to Canada.

Of the episodes in color (1973-1975) have been released ten DVDs, with a total of 20 episodes. Even the black-witafleveringen from 1961 to 1963 are DVDs released.

At the time of the TV episodes pulled Joop Doderer and Lou Geels by the country for children to give as Swiebertje and Bromsnor. Stage performances
