Located in the ground level at the back of the old courthouse, it opened out on the exercise yard. The scaffold where murderers were hung was directly above the entrance. Today it is part of the Courthouse Museum at Shasta State Historical Park. There is a central open room with the cells off to each side, one of which has an audio-visual presentation on why you didn't want to be in here.
