The Malvern School was built in 1896 and students began using the building in 1897. It built on a hill facing Southbridge St. It was originally a four room schoolhouse and then expanded in 1907 creating a Beaux Arts scheme. It was designed by a local firm Fuller and Delano. At the time it was built, Worcester was experiencing a rapid expansion. IN 1897 there was 6 separate new schools were occupied and 3 more under construction.

The area around Malvern School was not yet heavily developed in 1896. Holy Cross College was just to the east. House lots had been laid out on the streets surroundng, however development of these lots was sparce. The area today is a mixture of residential and industrial. The school has been converted to condominiums.
