Antica Osteria Vacchini is located in the historic center of Ascona, the "Borgo" with its maze of tiny streets. The place has been a restaurant since 1685. The main building with the restaurant kitchen has also a dining hall of the 18th century, but the outdoor seating area is much more popular in the warm season. It is located in a walled yard across the street, most seats are in comfortable shadow.
The cuisine is International with a local touch, Ticino style cooking is very similar to the Italian one, but with some local specialties from the Maggia valley and other nearby regions.
