A monument to the young soldiers of the Eure-et-Loir who died in the A Franco-Prussian war is located near the Place Chatelet in Chartres, France

A 40' stone semi-circular stone monument has four bronze figures. Inside a central arch opening is allegorical female figure stands on a pedestal holding a flag above her head with her right hand. A soldier is at her lower left side. The right leg of the soldier is bent at the knee and resting on the pedestal. His left leg hand straight dwn off the pedestal.
To the left and right of the central figures are a pair of standing soldiers at the ends of the semi-circle. One soldier has his left arm across his chest and reaching around is right side. The other soldier is holding a rifle vertically at his right side.
Above the central arch is the insription is taised bronze letters:
A LA MEMORIE
DES ENFANTS D'EURE-ET-LOIR
MORT POUR LA PATRIE
A nearby sign translante the dedication and give additional information. It reads in English:
IN MEMORY OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE
OF EURE-ET-LOIR WHO DIED FOR
THEIR COUNTRY
Unveiled in 1901, this stone-and-bronze memorial
was erected in memory of the Eure-et-Loir
soldiers killed during the 1870 Franco-Prussian
conflicts which took place in the region.
The back of the arch inscribed with the names and positions of dignitaries:
