Mammoth Mountain is home to a popular Ski Resort/Mountain Bike Complex in the Central Sierra Nevada Range. Mammoth straddles the border between Inyo and Madera Counties and is located on State Route 203 in Mammoth Lakes, CA. The summit is accessible by several means. The most popular and quickest are dozens of ski/mountain bike lifts and Gondolas that swiftly move visitors to the top. The Mammoth Mountain Trailhead in Twin Lakes Campground offers 4 mile strenuous route from the east. Four miles is listed on the trailhead mileage sign but it may be more like five miles. In the summer one can walk up one of the various mountain bike trails for a fee.
