Located high on the limestone bluffs along the Cumberland River, the crude log fort was original in 1779 to protect and shelter early settlers. This painstaking re-creation that visitors see today was built in 1962, and serves as a monument to courageous city founders. In five log cabins, costumed interpreters evoke the indomitable spirit of the American age of settlement. The fort is located at 170 1st Ave. in downtown Nashville. It is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is Free.
