This boat ramp is a single lane concrete ramp on the Southern shores of Lake Taupo. It is situated at the end of the Tokaanu Tailrace, accessed from Kaiwaka Street off SH.41 at Tokaanu. Ramp permits are required for this ramp. There is ample parking available beside the ramp.

The Tokaanu Tailrace Canal flows from the Powerhouse to reach Lake Taupo in a sheltered bay near the mouth of the Tongariro River. Lake Taupo, the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand and the Southern Hemisphere, is surrounded by stunning volcanoes, bush clad mountains and a spectacular landscape. It is an extremely popular location for boating holidays, waterskiing, troutfishing and small settlements around the lake all have their own boat ramps. Permits are required for their use.
