Little more than a large concrete box, it must have been a miserable place on summer days when the temperature regularly climb over 100.

A big iron door, tiny windows with little ventilation. It wasn't a place you wanted to be. The bronze sign on the side describes its history.

The site of this County jail dates
back to 1910, when a small
holding cell was used as a
drunk tank for local offenders.
The current building was
reconstructed under the Works
Progress Administration in 1936
and continued in use until
the 1950's.
