This cobalt blue flag flying at Calgary's private Ranchmen's Club shows the club's logo in gold. It flies from a flagpole on the roof of the east side of the building, above the members' entrance.
The flag shows a cowboy on a bucking horse, encircled by a belt. This is the symbol of the Ranchmen's Club, and is clearly inspired by the
Order of the Garter. The words on the belt are "The Ranchmen's Club Calgary". At the bottom of the belt is "1891".
The Ranchmen's Club was created by an act of the legislature of the Northwest Territories in 1891 (14 years before the creation of Alberta, in 1905). They have been based in this elegant brick building since 1914.
