Stone Bridge - Teufelsbrücke - Inzigkofen, Germany, BW - Stone Bridges on Waymarking.com

At the so-called 'Fürstlicher Park' (royal park) nearby to Inzigkofen, Germany, Baden-Württemberg exists a stone brodge which is called 'Teufelsbrücke' (Devil's Bridge).

The stone bridge has been created in 1895.
A fromer wooden bridge had been built in 1843.

The length of the actual bridge is 21.5 meters and its height is 19.5 meters.

The canyon under the bridge is called very appropriately: 'Höll' ( hell).


This is the legend for the name:
Prince Karl gave his architect commissioned on to build a bridge across the canyon.
The builder replied his master: 'This could be built by the devil, but not by me!'. No sooner had the builder said this, there even the devil was already there and promised to build the bridge under the condition that the soul of that creature who goes first on the finished bridge, belonged to him. It was a trade, and when the bridge was finished, they drove a mangy dog on it and thus tricked the devil.
