The family plot of John "J. P" Morgan has a huge central family marker surrounded by rows of small headstones for individual members of the family.

The simple headstone for J. P. Morgan is a low polished red granite marker inscribed JOHN PIERPONT MORGAN on the curved top and the years 1837 - 1913 on the front.

The family marker is a large 10' high by 12' long by 8' wide rectangular monument with a gabled roof. On one end is the family name MORGAN. Individual panels in the side contain the name, and dated of birth and death for members of the Morgan family.

Description:
The name J. P. Morgan is synonymous with money and power. John Pierpont "J. P." Morgan was born in Hartford, CT, to Junius Spencer Morgan and Juliet Pierpont on April 17, 1837. After studying in Europe J. P. Morgan joined is father's banking firm in London. In 1858, He then moved to New York City where he was an agent for his fathers firm doing business under the name J. Pierpont Morgan & Company. He became a member of the firm of Dabney, Morgan, and Company and in 1871, formed a partnership the Drexels of Philadelphia to form the New York firm of Drexel, Morgan & Company. In 1892 he arranged for the formation of the General Electric Company. He financed the Federal Steel Company and, in 1901, merged it into the Carnegie Steel Company to form the United States Steel Corporation. During the financial panic of 1893 he and the Rothchilds supplied the U.S. Treasury with 3.5 million ounces of gold to in exchange for a 30-year bond issue, thus saving the United States Treasury. During the Panic of 1907 he once again stepped up to save the economy by bringing together nation's leading financiers and forcing them to devise a plan to finance the resolution of the crisis. Between 1890 and 1913, the J. P. Morgan Company organized or financed 42 major corporations. J. P. Morgan died in Rome, Italy on March 31, 1913 at the age of 75. He is buried in a family plot in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
