There’s a Carl-Zeiss telescope in the striking, fully motorized, aluminum dome. The 150 mm lenses from Carl-Zeiss telescope is a 1920 viewer, donated by the nautical College in Rotterdam. The telescope is equipped with a sunscreen during the day, making it possible to observe sunspots in safe mode.
On the 'back' of the Carl-Zeiss is another viewer: A so-called H-alpha solar viewer. This viewer shows the sun in a special section of the spectrum and unravels details who remain invisible in the Carl-Zeiss viewer. This includes solar flares and prominences.
