The Richard Glenn Gettell Amphitheater was built in 1961 into the natural grassy slope of Pageant Green. It was designed by Sidney Shurcliff and the architectural firm of Carl Koch and Associates. The amphitheater was named in honor of former College president, Richard Glenn Gettell, who was president from 1957 to 1968.

The amphitheater can accommodate 2,500 people on its grass covered concentric rings. It is the site of the College's May Day celebration, graduation ceremonies and is also used as a concert venue.
