Rush Springs is a town of about 1235 folks, located in Grady County, near the old Chisholm Trail. Known as the Watermelon Capital of the World, this rural town celebrates each August with a Watermelon Festival.

Just east of Jeff Davis Park where the festival takes place, is the large Rush Springs Cemetery, on the east side of town. Among the 4200+ headstones here, we found this simple homemade stone for Wanda J. Lovett. It is a little concrete slab with her name and dates engraved in the wet cement. Her surname LOVETT is imbedded with colored marbles. The inscription reads:

LOVETT
