The hike to Spanish Fork Peak begins at the East end of the Whiting Campground in Maple Canyon. Drive east on 400 North through Mapleton into the canyon. The trailhead (N 40° 07.922', W 111° 31.632') is at the end of a parking lot in the campground. The trail to the peak splits off to the south and crosses a stream about a half mile from the parking area (N 40° 08.225 W 111° 31.179'). The trail climbs in a mostly southerly direction for about 4 miles until it starts to turn to the southwest and will pass Maple Canyon Lake (N 40° 05.681', W 111° 31.209'). Once past the lake, a series of switchbacks on the trail climbs up to the ridge revealing views of the valley to the west. The trail then proceeds around the west face then turns back to the east toward the peak. Total elevation gain for the hike is 4580 feet, total distance of the hike to the peak is 5.2 miles.
