John Phillips financed the construction of Folkparken in 1892-1894. People park is designed on the pattern of the so-called English park.

The park has several areas of activities, including a children's play area with climbing frames and toys, and a big jump mountain and a paddling pool. It offers courses for disc golf, mini golf and sand-filled paths for beach volleyball.

People park is lush, green and naturally formulated. There are both nice plantings and large trees, including the rare fan-pine and magnolia as Queen Silvia planted when the park celebrated 100 years in 1994.
