This simple stone monument at the corner of North Court Street and Randolph Street is the only reminder of the foundry that existed at this site from 1844 to 1928.

The Janney Foundry Company was in business for many years, but the United Daughters of the Confederacy chose to commemorate the role it played in the Civil War. There is not much information on the web as to when it was placed or why. The following from a page about Alabama iron works was about the only reference I found:
"Janney Foundry, Montgomery (1844-1928), owned by industrialist A. A. Janney, produced ordnance for the Confederacy along with various castings, sheet metal and ornamental ironwork. This foundry was burnt by Union troops invading Montgomery on April 12,1865. Janney also built the Janney Furnace in Calhoun County in 1863."

North Court Street is on the east side of Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits Minor League baseball team. On of the parking lots used for games is in the south side of this intersection.
