Historic St. John’s Church is located on Church Hill in the City of Richmond, Virginia. The Church was built by William Randolph in 1741 and is the oldest church in Richmond. St. John’s Church was the site of the Second Virginia Convention and it was during this convention that Patrick Henry rose and delivered his now famous “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech on March 23, 1775. The original 1741 part of the church is still in use and is very obvious during tour. The extension was added in 1772 and the bell tower sometime later. The words of Patrick Henry still echo though out the church as costumed guides recite those famous words. The church is still home to a very active congregation and services are held in the historic sanctuary every Sunday Morning.

St. John's Church Cemetery is also the final resting place of several notable Virginian including George Wythe, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and Elizabeth Poe, mother of Edgar Allen Poe.
