Just a couple of lines from the guidebook says:
At Spivey Creek Gap is the intersection with the Appalachian Trail. Right on the Appalachian Trail (4-foot cleared) to Big Bald Mountain.

This intersection of the Appalachian Trail also represents where the maintaining clubs switch. Southbound is the Carolina Mountain Club towards Big Bald Mountain Waymark WMHKKB. Northbound is the Tennessee Eastman Hiking & Canoeing Club. Parking for several vehicles available here.
