Holy Cross Lutheran church is located in the Lansing neighborhood in northeast Salem. The church is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States.

According to Marion County property records, this church building dates to 1945. The main structure, containing the sanctuary, is made of brick; a concrete addition is attached to the north side of the original building.

As the church is located in a neighborhood containing a large Hispanic population, services are held in both English and Spanish. A community garden, affiliated with Marion-Polk Foodshare, is located at the back of the building.
