The 96 foot tall elevator stood next to railroad track by the depot. Some people like to call it as the Murrieta Sentinel. When it was under construction, an entertainer climbed to the top and performed gymnastics acts for people waiting for the mail cart. In 1991 after decades of declining due to grain storage, it was boarded up and closed down. It is still standing today as a reminder of its past.
