Guthrie's black high school graduated its first class in 1906, then moved to the building constructed in 1912 on Grant Street. The school was named for Stonewall J. Faver, a county commissioner who donated the building. Then, in 1950, this school building was constructed. Classes were held here from 1951 to 1967, when Guthrie schools were integrated. Its final commencement was held in May 1967. Faver is now an alternative school in the Guthrie school system.
Northeast of the school building is a brick patio area with several stone benches. A plaque lists the Principals of Faver High School over the years. The patio area is approximately ten feet square and contains 400 plus donated pavers. The paver highlighted here reads:
McLaurin Family
Milburn & Evelene
Roberty 1955
Roberta 1956
Rebecca 1961
Dolester 1961
Alcurtis 1965
