Union Troops at Corinth
A look at Civil War Corinth
Through the eyes of wartime artists and photographers.
Not a "spit and polish" outfit, but tough and practical fighters. A Civil War photographer caught this group in a candid mode. Before the 1850s, the public's conception of battle formed mostly from romanticized drawings and paintings. Photography changed that image during the Crimean War and the American Civil War, with pictures showing things the way they really were. The photographer took this picture in the vicinity of the Tishomingo Hotel and railway station. A tent encampment can be seen beyond the loading platform along the railroad tracks.
Corinth is part of the Civil War Discovery Trail.
