Initially Leila's 12 year old brother had reported an intruder at their home when he and his sister was alone. He said that he found his sister stabbed and saw a Hispanic or white male running from the home. Later the brother was charged with the murder of his sister. The case was covered by Bay Area media, Sacramento area media and even People magazine.
