The stretch of road known as "The Malahat" is a 20 km section of the Trans-Canada Highway perched on the side of a mountain ridge. It climbs over 300 m to its summit at 352 m. The area through which this part of the highway runs is largely undeveloped, so this rest area gives drivers somewhere to stop and use a restroom. The Traditional geocache GCTJ7P is located next to the rest area.
