This large iron sculpture is located on a concrete pedestal (the former base of a high voltage power line pylon) in the river behind the museum and restaurant Haus Salmegg. It is a ball with a weight of over a ton with an anchor. The name of the sculpture is "Dickfigur Beteigeuze". It was created by Bernhard Luginbühl (16 February 1929 – 19 February 2011), one of the most famous contemporary Swiss artists.
The sculpture was a present from the Swiss city of Rheinfelden, just across the bridge, to the German city of Rheinfelden on occasion of the 75th anniversary of the declaration of city rights in 1997.
The sculpture is not a unique copy, another one is located in front of the museum Jean Tinguely in Basel.
