For many years E.M. Viquesney had the dream of building a movie theatre and the dream came true when the grand opening was held December 31, 1928. In May 1985, the theatre was gutted by an arson fire. It was restored and reopened but was never really the same. It was closed down in 1998 and stood vacant for many years. It was scheduled to be demolished in 2005 but the valiant efforts of a group of caring individuals kept it from meeting that fate. After several attempts to turn the building into something useful it was once again scheduled to be destroyed. Within days of it's scheduled demise, the Cook company decided it was worth saving. They donated the money needed to completely restore the theatre and marquee to the way it looked in 1928. The grand re-opening took place April 11, 2013. Today, it is just as beautiful as it was in its heyday of yesteryear.
