The tower of the Neubaukirche at 91 meters, is the highest in Würzburg. The church was built as part of the University of Würzburg, beginning in early 1580's. The tower was completed in 1697. The style is Renaissance. The church was largely destroyed during the March 16, 1945 British fire bomb attack, though the exterior of the tower remained standing. The church was faithfully restored after the war. With its unique architectural style, it was and remains, the tallest church spire in Würzburg.
