The rare feature on this War memorial is the bronze soldier that stands atop the granite plinth, sculpted by the World famous, SIR WILLIAM GOSCOMBE JOHN.

Most War Memorials, topped with a military figure, are stone, or mouldings.

The Monument is situated on Priory Street, a busy main road, with continuous vehicle traffic but very little footfall.
This War memorial is halfway to the Roman Amphitheatre, whilst walking from the car park.

The nearest parking is St Peters Car Park, itself the site of a Roman Fort. This is the car park to use to visit a

Description of Memorial:
Located ROADSIDE IN FRONT OF INFIRMARY. on priory street. This War memorial is halfway to the Roman Amphitheatre, whilst walking from the car park. The monument was unveiled BRIG GEN J V CAMPBELL on 5th Sept 1924.
