"Phil Shao was raised in Redwood City and is a legend in the skating world. Phil was a professional skateboarder; he coached young skaters; he was a graduate of UC Berkeley and was to be the next editor of Thrasher Magazine. Phil was a great friend, son and brother. Phillip was born in 1973 and was killed by a drunk driver in August of 1998. Forever perusing a positive direction of reality, no one can ever deny his charismatic methods. He made a major impact on people all around the world, especially young skaters. The influence he made on people's loves was nothing but a positive one."
