The North Fremantle Town Hall was built in 1902, the period embellishments are mostly intact with flamboyant corinthian columns and pilasters which contrast with the rather plain library next door built in 1906.
The North Fremantle Municipality was declared on 13 September 1895, on 1 July 1961, it became a Town following enactment of the Local Government Act 1960. It amalgamated into the City of Fremantle on 1 November 1961.
The main hall was used for Mason Lodge meetings, Church, School, Football Club & Kindergarten balls, ratepayers meetings and from 1936 until after the Second World War it was a cinema known as 'Arcadia Pictures'. In recent years it has been the headquarters of the Western Australian Ballet Company, Fremantle Community School and since 1983 an Antique Shop.
